Handyman Garage Project

The September 2009 issue of Handyman Magazine had a great article on cleaning up your garage with a wonderful wall organizer.
My husband showed me the article and got my approval....and next thing I know...he is going to buy supplies and cutting out pieces.

assembling...

The great part about this system, is that it allows you to customize for your needs. Since I work in real estate, I have lots of signs. And when I needed a sign, it always seemed to be behind or under something else. Look at how great this is!

Loved how he made the brackets, so the signs would not slide off into the floor. Brackets for the brochure boxes, the arrow signs, and then the large ones.

Next he added customization for lawn equipment, kites, & tools.
Btw...did I ever tell you how many kites he owns?  That's another story.

We are going to buy plastic totes for the top shelves to keep things in that you don't use often.

It got dark. He couldn't see his cutting lines and wanted to finish more...
How do you like this? He attached his flashlight, to the saw!

Tomorrow....I will give you a finished look at our project.

Loving my New Design

My new blog design is finally done! Thanks to Karen Valentine. I found her online by looking through blogs that caught my eye and simply searching blog designers online. My personal blog is simply a way of expressing the creative me...and she has designed my blog with that in mind.

I will be adding many of my favorite blogs in the next few days. These are blogs that I love to read about decorating, crafting and cooking. Did I ever tell you that I am addicted to blog reading?

Thank you Karen for the wonderful design! I highly recommend her if you are looking for a blog designer.

Changes Revealed

Here is the guest bath with its total new look. Old vanity was torn out, beadboard added, new paint, vanity, mirrow and fixture. I really love it!

Been wanting to do this in the living room for two years...saw something similar in Anthropologie in San Francisco a couple years ago and it has stuck in my head.  I took advantage of using a couple clocks with light turquoise tone in them to add to the rest of the color, I had incorporated in the living and the dining area.

More pics to come.....

Changing things around the House

There has been alot of changing and redoing around the house lately. The first thing that happened was the decision to change the reds to turquoise throughout the house. I have always been a red person, own a red car and had red in every single room in my house.

Love my Turquoise Bag

I have kept having this attraction to the turquoise and decided it was time to make some changes. Changes started with simply a new bedspread with tones of browns, golds, green and light turquoise. Some call it a seafoam, some call it a blue, but I love the shade of a pale turquoise stone.
One thing after another keeps happening. Found someone to paint the living area. Not a easy thing since we have 16 foot ceilings. Had to move all the furniture out or to the middle of the room.
Things never went back on the walls. New painting are hanging, but not done yet. Then sold my dining table and bought an antique farm table. Now, I need chairs. I don't want all the same kind. I want the personality that comes with the mismatched chairs. Kind of the Anthropology look.

Then the guys that I had hired to remodel the bathroom called after two months of waiting. Demolition begin last Monday morning.  Whew! Most people do these things one at a time. Not me...I like chaos. Or atleast it seems that way.

Oklahoma Bellas

Saturday was such a fun day meeting up with four other gals that are attending Silver Bella.

Luckily, one of the girls in our group is marketing person for Oklahoma Tourism and she planned our day in Oklahoma City. It was the first time I had met the two Oklahoma City girls. It was great fun, as we shared our creative ideas throughout the day and search for valuables for creating mixed media art and swaps.

An especially fun part of the day was discovering the hats in an antique store. We bought hats for Silver Bella Market Night. The title of the evening is "Hats on Parade". They suggest wearing vintage, funny, artistic, glamorous, whatever is your choice.

We had lunch at a newer resturant in downtown Oklahoma City, that was absolutely wonderful. Everyone of our dishes were to die for! Pachinko Parlow is located on 9th St. just north of the Bricktown area. Just next door is  Sara Sara Cupcakes. We didn't get to go, since we had ate so much, no one could eat another bite. Maybe next time. I have heard rave revues about it.

We are hoping to have another get together, and maybe some more of the Oklahoma gals attending Silver Bella can join us. Oh what fun.

Summer in Iowa

We just returned from Iowa for a vacation with my husband's family. It is always good to see all the family, see Iowa and enjoy some rest from work. A few days before we left...I bought a new car. I must say, it was not planned to do this before we left. I had been loving the looks of the new body style of the Cadillac SRX. The new sleek design made them a beautiful car and I already knew the ride was wonderful. After stopping by a local dealership to check the price of one on their lot, it only led to me going to other deals to see if the price was good. Next thing I know, I am in Norman buying one in the color of my choice with the features of my choice. I can say...it was worth the wait to find just what I had been looking for the past several months. And like I always say...you will know it when you see it. Obviously, I am a visual person. Enough about my new car. And talking visual take a look at the beautiful farm land in Iowa.

Silver Bella

Each November crafters flock to Omaha, Neb., for Silver Bella, a weekend getaway that promises fun, fellowship, and craft workshops. This year, I get the priviledge to attend along with some of my bestest crafty friends. The best description of Silver Bellas comes from a Country Living magazine....
'Nebraska paper artist Teresa McFayden wanted to give creative women a forum where they could gather, share ideas, and learn new skills. So in 2006, she invited fellow crafters to her hometown of Omaha for a weekend of camaraderie and workshops taught by noted crafters and paper artists. Soon news of her workshops, which she named Silver Bella, spread on blogs. To McFayden's delight, dozens of women from as far away as Australia headed to Nebraska to hone their skills in decoupage, collage, jewelry-making, and more."
Go to the Paper Bella site to learn more....you will see why I am so excited about going this year. I will be blogging more later on the classes I have enrolled in and the swaps that I will be participating in.
